Aims & Objectives
Waterford Pride has been founded to celebrate the Pride that lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgendered people have in themselves. This is expressed in an annual festival.
In doing this, Waterford Pride aims to create a focus through which the lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgendered people of the south-east of Ireland can project their unity, diversity, dignity and fundamental right to universal equality.
Waterford Pride will endeavour to be fully accountable, through its membership, to the communities that it represents.
Waterford Pride undertakes to secure the future of the annual event through sound management and through consultation.
Waterford Pride strives to implement a full equality policy and to be open and accountable to everyone who wishes to be involved.

Who are we?
Waterford Pride is a non-profit voluntary organisation, founded in 1999 and is responsible for organising the Waterford Pride festival, which is planned to be staged in Waterford each year.

Membership

As a voluntary organisations its survival is ensured by people generously giving their time and money in order to work together and make Waterford Pride a reality year after year. Members are guaranteed entry to Pride events at a reduced members rate, members will receive an invite to Pride's official launch reception and be sent out Pride brochures in advance of the festival. Where possible, a minimum donation of £2  is requested when filling membership.

Structure
The organisation is to be divided into a Management Committee, which makes strategic decisions and ensures that the event will actually take place and a number of smaller Working Groups, which focus on a specific area of activity. These Working Groups will make the day-to-day decisions in their area and are responsible for providing a particular service to the wider organisation. These working groups will be

Waterford Pride will have an Annual General Meeting (AGM) in January 2001 at which we seek to publicise a full and comprehensive overview of that year in the organisation and are held accountable by our members. Like all other AGMs it has a number of speeches about the organisation, a full financial run-down of the organisation and its accounts, and elections for vacant posts on the Management Committee.

Other Activities
Health Promotion Work
The Health Promotion team is active in publicising information via the Waterford Pride Festival on health issues such as safer sex, diet, alcohol and mental health. This is achieved by interfacing with a number of other community groups and health bodies in order to ensure that the LGBT communities are given up-to-date and accurate health care information.
